Topps and VeeFriends: Trading Card Line Debut at NYCC

Topps, a household name in the sports card industry, is breaking new ground with a splashy collaboration at New York Comic Con alongside VeeFriends, an entertainment brand that has been making waves with its inspirational characters. The latest venture into non-sports trading cards combines Topps’ expertise with VeeFriends’ unique storytelling, set to captivate fans and collectors alike.

VeeFriends, brainchild of entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, has carved a niche for itself with its captivating characters that aim to spread positivity and growth. Now, these beloved characters will leap from the digital world onto tangible Topps Chrome cards as part of an exciting, multi-year partnership. To kick off this collaboration in style, free promo cards will be distributed at the VeeFriends booth during New York Comic Con, promising attendees an exclusive first look.

This collaboration is not the first rodeo for VeeFriends and Fanatics, as they joined forces in 2021 for the release of VeeFriends trading cards with the zerocool brand. Now, Topps has joined the party, adding a new dimension to the VeeFriends universe with their Chrome cards featuring iconic characters such as Notorious Ninja and Patient Panda.

Kelvin Smith, Senior Vice President of Global Licensing and Partnerships at Fanatics Collectibles, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing the synergy between VeeFriends’ mission and Fanatics’ dedication to serving fans and collectors. The move signifies Topps’ strategic expansion into non-traditional card markets and its commitment to engaging a broader audience of collectors.

President of VeeFriends, Andy Krainak, sees the collaboration as an opportunity to elevate the brand’s reach and credibility, presenting a fresh storytelling medium through trading cards, comics, and animations. The partnership aims to attract young collectors and families, enhancing the trading card hobby with immersive narratives that transcend traditional boundaries.

The debut of the VeeFriends-Topps Chrome line at New York Comic Con is poised to generate buzz among attendees seeking alternative collectibles beyond the usual sports offerings. With its diverse audience, the event provides an ideal platform to introduce VeeFriends to a wider collector base, showcasing the brand’s universal appeal to fans of all ages.

For Topps, this collaboration represents a strategic move to bolster its presence in the non-sports trading card sector, following recent ventures with entertainment giants like Disney and Marvel. The immersive experience offered by VeeFriends’ characters aligns seamlessly with Topps’ vision to expand its reach and engage a new generation of collectors through innovative product lines.

As the partnership between Topps and VeeFriends unfolds, it not only injects fresh energy into the trading card landscape but also solidifies VeeFriends’ position as a key player in the collectibles market. By providing fans with new avenues to interact with their favorite characters, the collaboration sets the stage for an exciting chapter in the world of trading cards.
