In the world of sports memorabilia, few items generate as much excitement as rare baseball cards. The PWCC December Premier Auction, underway now, is no exception. With two of the most coveted cards from the T206 set up for grabs, collectors from around the world are eagerly participating in this prestigious event.
One standout item in this auction is the SGC 1 graded T206 Eddie Plank card. Only 39 of these cards have received a grade from SGC, with an additional 21 graded by PSA. Despite its signs of age and wear, including paper loss, creasing, and corner and edge damage, the Plank card's value and rarity remain undisputed. Its appearance at auction is a noteworthy event, marking the fourth time this year that a Plank card has become available for purchase. Previous sales include an SGC 1 Plank card that fetched $75,000 in February and a PSA 2.5 variant that commanded $168,000 in August.
Accompanying the Plank card is the PSA 2 graded Sherry "Magie" error card, another prestigious item from the T206 set. This card features a misspelling of Sherry Magee's last name and is considered one of the most renowned rarities in the collection, alongside the T206 Honus Wagner and "NY Nat’l" Joe Doyle cards.
But the auction doesn't stop at vintage baseball cards. It also includes an impressive array of Michael Jordan cards, a testament to the enduring legacy and popularity of the basketball legend. Some of the highlights from the Jordan collection include the 1997 Metal Universe Championship Precious Metals (#/50) graded BGS 9, the 1998 Skybox Premium Star Rookies (#/50) graded PSA 8, the 1997 Skybox E-X 2001 Essential Credentials Future (#/72) graded PSA 9, and the 1984-85 Star Company XRC cards in both PSA 8 and BGS 9 grades.
In addition to the basketball memorabilia, the auction boasts modern hockey treasures. Hockey fans will be thrilled to find the 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Gold Foil Connor McDavid RPA (#/12) up for grabs, as well as the 2005 Upper Deck The Cup Sidney Crosby RPA (#/99) graded BGS 8.
With bids being accepted until December 21st, this auction presents a rare opportunity for collectors to own a piece of sports history. Whether it's the highly sought after T206 cards, the iconic Michael Jordan collection, or the modern hockey gems, there is something for every enthusiast. Do not miss your chance to be part of this momentous event.
